A modern house set on the edge of the AONB, this family home draws on inspirational case study houses of the 1950’s to create a pavilion with free-flowing spaces set around a central outdoor courtyard. The building is aligned to the sun’s path and utilises deciduous trees, both as part of elevation and to create additional solar shading in summer months. Natural vegetation die-off in winter months allows solar gains to be fully exploited.
